Cottage Health 2019 Culture Audit

6.26 What are the distinctive ways in which managers, especially senior managers, share information with employees and foster a culture of transparency? Our Culture of Transparency Is Set at the Top Clear, honest communication is an essential part of our culture and is led by example by President and CEO, Ron Werft, and the executive team. In turn, employees are encouraged to engage in transparent two-way communication at all levels throughout the organization. Employee Forums In the spring and fall of each year, Ron Werft hosts employee forums to discuss employee questions and provide updates on facility improvement, regulatory changes, budget and finances, operational changes, key industry issues, quality metrics, community health issues, patient satisfaction, employee engagement and any other topic that employees want to discuss. The forums are open to all employees and include sessions at all campuses and various times to accommodate all shifts. The forums create dialogue with employees who feel very comfortable surfacing any issues or respectfully challenging the status quo. C3 Events – Collaborate Create Celebrate C3 is a half-day event that happens three times a year, typically in February, June and October. All employees are encouraged to attend at least one event during the year. It is especially important for new employees to attend an event to understand Cottage Health’s commitment to sharing and creating new ideas. The three Cs mean: • Collaborate – Share knowledge across the organization and help others discover what was learned in a project process • Create – Inspire similar successes in other locations to make the entire system better • Celebrate – Enjoy time together to celebrate success The agenda changes for each event, but it typically has three-to-five task teams present successful department performance improvement projects, education or training and an update on Cottage Health from Ron Werft, President and CEO. 49/94 Start | Contents | Highlights | General Information | Hiring & Welcoming | Inspiring | Speaking | Listening | Thanking | Developing | Caring | Celebrating | Sharing • Speaking 6.26
