D Educational Benefits – Helping Employees Reach Their Dreams Educational benefits provided by Cottage Health enable employees to advance their education and their careers through: Tuition Reimbursement – Cottage Health reimburses employees for the cost of classes and books required for approved educational courses, conferences, CEUs or degree programs – up to $1,000 a year. Certification Bonus Program – Employees advancing their professional education are awarded with bonuses up to $1,000 for each nationally recognized initial certification and $500 for re-certification. Healthcare Education Loan Program – Financial support of up to $12,000 is available for employees earning certificates, degrees and advanced degrees in approved health-related programs. Loan Forgiveness Program – Employees may choose to repay these education loans through active employment at Cottage Health in which the loan is forgiven one dollar for each hour worked. E Disaster Aid, Housing and Transportation – Caring for Each Other in Times of Crisis Santa Barbara and surrounding communities were hit hard by catastrophic fires in December 2017 and then by a historic debris flow in January 2018. Lives were lost, homes destroyed and roads closed. In response, Cottage Health created new programs to assist employees in difficult times. Employee Emergency Assistance Program – This ongoing program provides financial assistance to employees in times of natural disasters or personal hardships – up to $5,000. Housing from Employees for Employees – Many Cottage employees who were not displaced opened up their homes to colleagues forced to evacuate. Hotel Accommodations – The CH Hospitality team coordinated with local hotels to find rooms for employees on duty but unable to travel home. Transportation – During the freeway closure, Cottage established a command center to coordinate boats, trains and vans for employees to safely commute to work. F Employee Assistance Program/Outpatient Counseling – Free Services for Employees and Dependents When an employee has a problem at home or at work, Cottage Health is committed to helping. Whether short-term or long-term, counseling is available to help make life-changing differences for employees and their families. The Employee Assistance Program was created to help when an employee or family member needs confidential assistance, counseling or referrals, and it is provided at no cost. Outpatient Counseling provides short- to longer-term behavioral health services at no cost for employees with Cottage Health insurance and their covered dependents. “I have been going to outpatient counseling for years and look forward to each appointment. My counselor and I have addressed work stress, school stress, relationship issues, family health issues and career advancement.
