Miles for Moms – Employees go the Extra Mile UPDATED: Honoring mothers this year, more than 400 employees, families and former patients participated in the annual Miles for Moms 5K run on Mother’s Day weekend. Some employees ran with their kids; some with their moms and their kids. This year, the 2nd annual Miles for Moms raised more than $67,000 for Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. Employee Song Contest to Promote Hand Hygiene NEW: Handwashing Idol is a special event that is part of a new campaign to promote proper handwashing techniques and prevent hospital-acquired infections. The handwashing campaign launched with educational outreach, system wide signage and custom boxes with fun giveaways for employees as well as a song. Then, all employees were invited to submit unique song lyrics, with the winning lyricist and their department being treated to lunch. Supplemental Materials Video : Handwashing Song Lots of you submitted song lyrics about handwashing, and the winner received a department lunch.
