Patient Satisfaction We regularly share our outstanding patient satisfaction rates and the many letters we receive from grateful patients at employee forums and in employee publications. Our patient satisfaction rates significantly exceed national and state benchmarks. We measure patient experience through surveys that are independently administered. All of the indicators or safe practices included in the survey are validated and defined so that all hospitals can use the same methods for calculating the statistics. This process promotes transparency in reporting and allows the public to make comparisons based on credible data. Patients First is our defining culture. Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital (SBCH ) and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital (GVCH ) received a Five-Star Rating in patient survey summaries from Hospital Compare, for the category on patient recommendation. Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) is a Critical Care Access Hospital which does not have measurements in all of the Hospital Compare rating categories. In 2017, SYVCH received a Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for outstanding patient experience.
