Cottage Health 2020 Culture Audit

J Onsite Child Care – Safe, Happy and Close to Parents Cottage Health offers employees onsite child care at a significantly reduced price at the Orfalea Children’s Center located at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The center includes large classrooms, keyed entry for parents, and a private breast feeding room, as well as kitchen areas and outdoor play areas for each different age group. The center offers a supportive family environment and has the added benefit of bringing together employees who share a connection of raising young children. Many lifelong friendships are established with shared experiences at the Children’s Center. The Children’s Center meets LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications, using solar-generated energy, bamboo flooring and wood from regenerating forests. Available to all employees, the center has earned accreditation from NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and has won the City of Santa Barbara Solar Design Award. K United Way - Partnering to Build Better Futures for Local Children UPDATED: Cottage Health is dedicated to helping people live healthier lives. One way we do this is through our partnership with United Way of Santa Barbara County. Many CH employees volunteer their time to United Way and donate through payroll deduction to provide others with opportunities for better education, better jobs and better futures. Donations from Cottage employees to United Way exceed $100,000 a year, with hundreds of employees participating. Employees and families also support the United Way Fun in the Sun program to promote literacy and provide students with hospital tours, lunch and presentations about health care careers. Through this program, employees and their families have donated thousands of books to local children. United Way Day of Caring, another program supported by CH employees, allows employees and their families to work together on community projects like beach cleanup, landscaping and building picnic tables. L Veteran’s Day Luncheon – Honoring Our Own for Their Service UPDATED: Cottage Health honors employees who have served in the military with an annual celebration. Each Veterans Day, all Cottage employees who are veterans are recognized at special luncheon. The event is led by Kevin Nelson, Cottage Health Chief Compliance Officer and Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired. The luncheon provides veterans the opportunity to discuss past military experiences and build a common bond with each other. The event also includes a ceremony to remember fallen or missing soldiers. 7/119 Start | Contents | Highlights | Business Description | Hiring & Welcoming | Inspiring | Speaking | Listening | Thanking | Developing | Caring | Celebrating | Sharing • Highlights 6.11
