Whether short-term or long-term, therapists are assisting in making life-changing differences for employees and their families. The Employee Assistance Program was created to help when an employee or family member needs confidential assistance, counseling or referrals, and it is provided at no cost. Outpatient Counseling provides short to longer-term behavioral health services at no cost for employees with Cottage Health insurance and their covered dependents. “I have been going to outpatient counseling for years and look forward to each appointment. My counselor and I have addressed work stress, school stress, relationship issues, family health issues and career advancement. The counseling at Cottage has helped me through it all.” Employee Resource Connect NEW: During annual health screenings, employees are asked to complete a quick, confidential survey to identify if they need help with food, housing, transportation or behavioral health care. If they identify a need and request assistance, resources are offered. This led to the new Employee Food Program. Data from the initial implementation of Cottage Health’s Employee Resource Connect program revealed that 18% of employees struggle with at least one social need (i.e., food, transportation, or housing). Food was identified as the most common need. In response to these results, the Employee Resource Connect workgroup developed a food program. Employees who screen positive for food insecurity are eligible to participate in the new food program. If they choose to participate, $50 is loaded onto their employee badge to be used at the Cottage Cafeterias, Cottage Café, Park Place Deli, and onsite weekly farmer’s market. They also receive support from a Family Service Agency advocate to assist with identifying long-term solutions to food needs, which may include additional financial support. By opting in, employees agree to share their employee ID with Cottage Nutrition Services and Payroll departments for the purpose of transferring money onto employee badges. No one else within Cottage Health has access to screening results. Employees can only take advantage of this benefit once in a calendar year. 6.31 What is your company’s approach to helping employees successfully manage their work and personal lives?
