Cottage Health 2020 Culture Audit

• A partnership between Cottage Health’s Employee Assistance Program, CHRI and UCSB studied Disaster Response and Clinician Well-Being and Resilience after Disasters to find ways to better care for caregivers during and after a disaster. • Testing bacterial levels at the Ridley-Tree Center for Wound Management was conducted, with CHRI and wound center staff partnering with a local company, Soraa, which was founded by UCSB’s Nobel Prize winning professor, Shuji Nakamura. • Cottage laboratory staff, infectious disease specialists and CHRI worked with a local biotech company to test a new procedure by mobile phone app for diagnosing sepsis more quickly and improving patient outcomes. CHRI also has a unique academic relationship with the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) that strengthens our ability to further deliver on bioengineering and material sciences technology opportunities that benefit patients. Researchers at CHRI have designed and implemented innovative research projects which have been published and presented at conferences both locally and nationally. Laboratory Services – Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories Cottage Health’s laboratory services are highly automated with state-of-the-art instrumentation and techniques. Medical records and test results are kept in a single centralized secure repository which allows fast and easy access to health records for any authenticated healthcare provider. Cottage’s inpatient laboratories, fully licensed and accredited by The Joint Commission, offer over 800 procedures. Unlike any other center in the region, 97% of procedures are performed in house, ensuring quality and accuracy. Pacific Diagnostic Laboratories (PDL) , a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cottage Health, is a full-service clinical laboratory performing more than 2.1 million lab procedures annually. PDL’s enhanced outpatient lab testing has the largest local test menu between Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. PDL’s staff and equipment provide improved turnaround times and enable test data to be integrated appropriately and confidentially within the medical community.
