Outreach to Inspire Future Employees - Offering Health Careers Education and Hands-On Training to Students The San Marcos Health Careers Academy was created through a partnership with Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, San Marcos High School and Santa Barbara City College and has become an important referral source for future Cottage Health employees. The goal of the academy is to provide a wide variety of health career experiences so that, upon graduation, students will be prepared for entrance into colleges, universities or technical schools or for skilled entry- level positions that may lead them to a career in health care. Local students are highly invested in our community and often have a knowledge and respect of Cottage’s history as part of the community, and even a part of their own family’s history.
