They learn how to provide feedback in a conflict situation in a way that improves communication, fosters dialogue, and promotes accountability. Introduction to Shared Governance Employees learn the mission statement of Shared Governance (SG), examine the history of it, appreciate why SG is important and discuss how it gives them an important voice in the organization that can lead to positive changes. Patients First Patients First is a call to action in honoring Cottage’s commitment to our patients, visitors and colleagues through our shared values of excellence, integrity, and compassion. Employees have the opportunity to work with peers throughout the entire Cottage Health community. They learn what teamwork, communication and attitude means from the patient/visitor perspective. Patient Care Simulation Center The Gary M. Hock Family Patient Care Simulation Center provides clinical and discussion-based simulations to physicians, nurses and other clinical healthcare professionals. State of the art manikins and audiovisual equipment allow patient scenarios to be recreated, providing clinicians with a realistic experience. Standardized participants (volunteers) also participate in the role of patients and their families in order to provide more realism to a simulation when needed. The Simulation Center currently has 18 specialized simulation programs that are offered to Cottage Health employees. Symposiums with Nationally Recognized Speakers Cottage Health regularly offers symposiums with nationally known speakers, including TED Talk speakers, to further education and offer CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits for our employees.
