Celebrating Achievements NEW: Striving to always raise the bar in caring for our patients and our communities, Cottage staff achievements come in all types. We are proud to recognize those advancements and honor those individuals and departments who make it happen – from new advanced certifications to special patient/ staff events to organizational improvements. The Best Summer Picnic in Santa Barbara CH hosts an annual picnic in the park, attended by over 2,000 employees, volunteers and their families. Employees attend for free, and guests pay a nominal fee. They are treated to a host of picnic games (bingo, bounce houses, face painting), as well as a full buffet meal featuring chicken, ribs, tri-tip and churros. Traditional picnic goodies like popcorn, snow cones and hot dogs are also on hand. Honoring Our Everyday Heroes Everyday Heroes are nominated by colleagues, and sometimes patients, who recognize team members for going above and beyond their normal job responsibilities. The event is hosted by our President and CEO, Ron Werft, who reads the nominations and presents the honorees with a certificate and a gift. At the conclusion of the ceremony, all nominees are entered into drawing, and a winner receives eight hours of PTO. Holiday Parties We host five holiday parties at local hotels over the course of two weekends. Employees and volunteers may attend for free and are invited to bring a guest for a nominal fee. The evening includes a buffet dinner, along with a DJ, band and dancing for entertainment. At the end of the evening, there is a raffle for gifts and grand prize. Halloween Parties Each October, we host several Halloween parties where employees are encouraged to enter a costume contest. Some locations also sponsor a pumpkin carving contest.
